For those who plan to continue their travels late in the afternoon after the Classic tour but wish to get in 1/2 day of extra shooting and fun, we offer a short extension tour full of spectacular views on the Vogel ski resort.
An eighty person gondola/telecabin takes us from 530m to 1500m in 8 minutes. Waiting for you is an incredible view of the Julian Alps, as well as the Karavanke and Kamniško-Savinjske alps further in the horizon. The pièce de résistance – Triglav – is of course there, acting as the perfect backdrop to the Lake and the vertical wall of Komarča. And if that’s not enough we catch an extra ride to 1800m and see why Slovenia is called “The sunny side of the Alps”. On a good day we can even see Italy and the ocean!
After a two hour walkabout to discover this gorgeous windswept mountain to work up an appetite, we take an early lunch at Merjasec – a quaintly beautiful wooden mountain hut – for jota and coffee/tea.
After lunch we head back down the gondola, and with regret say our goodbyes. As this journey ends, another one begins. We are sure, however, that we will meet again someday – as friends!
